У статті здійснено компаративний аналіз проблеми мотивації вчителів середньої школи США до професійної діяльності. Визначено стадії професійного розвитку вчителя як фази психологічної перебудови його особистості; способи підвищення мотивації до професійної діяльності вчителів; ряд потенційних чинників мотивації вчителів до підвищення кваліфікації.
