Abstract

The article deals with the comparative research of the modern European system of teacher education principles of functioning, ways of its reforming and modernization. Analyzing peculiar features in European model of teacher education, working with state programs and documents we came to the conclusion that professional teacher training principles are similar in the whole European educational environment and in general they may be described in the following way: principle of democracy; principle of openness, accessibility for all; principle of integrity; principle of flexibility; principle of continuity; principle of creativity and practice; scientific principle. The author stresses that the modern epoch has consistently formulated the European model of teacher education, characterized by humanization processes, individual based and cultural centered features, wide application of innovation and scientific research. European experience of modernization of all constituent parts of teacher education system can become a valuable asset of the comparative pedagogical science. Using this experience will lead to effective reform of teacher education in Ukraine.
