IMPROVING TRAINING FUTURE AGRARIANS IN UKRAINE BASED ON THE EXPERIENCE OF GREAT BRITAIN

Abstract

The article deals with the directions of optimization of professional training future agrarians in higher educational institutions of Ukraine on the basis of experience of Great Britain. The aim of the article is to analyze the main vectors of improving the training of future agrarians in higher educational institutions of Ukraine based on the experience of Great Britain. The goals of the article are to outline the current provision of training future agrarians by the institutions of higher education of Ukraine; to consider the principle requirements for training future agrarians in higher educational establishments of Ukraine; to highlight the prospective directions of improvement of training future agrarians in higher educational institutions of Ukraine grounding on the experience of Great Britain. As a result of the research we have come to the conclusion that activities aimed at improving the training future agrarians in higher educational institutions of Ukraine based on the experience of British high agricultural education providers should be directed along such vectors as: state, regional and university ones. It is reasonable to create a more positive image of agriculture and agricultural education as well as develop academic mobility at the state vector. Regionally it is useful to develop cooperation of universities and local agribusiness. According to the university vector the documents such as “Subject Benchmark Statement: Agricultural and Food Sciences in Ukraine” and “Ukrainian Employability Profile: Agriculture and Related Branches” should be designed to cover the peculiarities of work in the agri-food sector and provide educational and career guidance. Universities should work hard to improve and design mono and interdisciplinary module-based programs as well as to increase variation and practical components in them. It is recommended to optimize educational and methodical set of tools for training future agrarians on the basis of the variability of forms, methods and means of teaching and learning combining traditional and innovative aspects. It is proposed to increase the proportion of active learning and application of information and communication technologies in the process of training future agrarians. It is emphasized that the implementation of the formulated proposals will contribute to the optimization of the educational process and increase the effectiveness of the training future agrarians on the ground of interaction and collaboration of students, academic staff and representatives of the agrarian sector due to taking into account and fulfilling the requirements and needs of all stakeholders as it takes place in Great Britain. So the experience is useful for Ukraine.
