Abstract

The article analyzes the controversy Slavic and European Baroque art in the context of the brightest representatives of each – Jean-Jacques Rousseau and Gregory Skovoroda. In the spotlight – humanistic phenomena and elements of philosophical constructs and arguments of the two thinkers in the vectors “natural - social”, “public - individual” and the dichotomy of the “tragic - comic”, “personality - history” and others. We consider the variety in nature and form ways of understanding “humanity” as the central phenomenon of any philosophical system, regardless of its final orientation - social, axiological targeting or epistemologically – ontological in nature.
