Abstract

Based on theoretical studies, a new method for teaching a creative narrative foreign language monologue to students using drama techniques was developed. The method aims at the development of skills in presenting well-articulated and expressive personal opinion in students as well as at the development of their creativity and other important abilities, such as attention, imagination, artistic skills and psychophysical freedom. A new method includes, in particular, three teaching stages, four-group subsystem of training exercises for students as well as authentic teaching material. Forty three drama techniques were selected and classified according to the following three categories: basic physical movements, intermediate-level creative techniques encouraging direct associations, and highly creative techniques aimed at fostering visionary thinking in students. Experimental testing demonstrated a high effectiveness of this method.
