Keywords:
I-concept, body image, image of the physical “I”, body diagram, self-relation, self-consciousnessAbstract
The article provides a theoretical analysis of the history of psychological study of corporeality within the framework of the conception of the image of the physical “I”. The approaches existing in the foreign and domestic sciences to the understanding of the psychological content of the concept of the I-concept as the result of the process of self-consciousness are reflected. Relying on the positions of leading scientists, the image of the physical “I” is defined as the structural component of the I-image, which is represented in self-knowledge of the I-physical, its self-perception and self-evaluation.
