FEATURES OF PSYCHOLOGICAL COMPONENTS OF PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL SELFDETERMINATION OF TECHNICAL UNIVERSITIES’ STUDENTS

Abstract

The results of analysis theoretical approaches in understanding the concepts of personal and professional self-determination, their psychological components are presented in the article. The understanding of self-determination from the point of view of a subjective approach to psychology as a form of personality’s subjectivity, self-realization, life-creation in the profession is presented. The personality’s motivational, cognitive, affective, behavioral aspects are suggested to consider as psychological components of personality’s self-determination, and the level of self-actualization as an integral indicator of personality’s self-determination. The results of an empirical study of the peculiarities of personality’s self-determination of students of a technical college are presented. It is been concluded that students, regardless of their experience of studying at a university, have an average level of self-actualization. It is shown that the level of consciousness as an ability to act purposefully, persistently and arbitrarily tends to increase in senior students in comparison with first-year students. And it is been concluded that the level of students’ motivational orientation toward one’s own self, his eccentric needs, on the contrary, decrease.
